One comment and a response removed for being dismissive about the project.
MetaFilter post I know that this is exactly what they were looking for, but I can't help myself deleted. User request
One comment removed at the member's request
It's ok to not like Star Wars, Andor, Disney+, or even tv, but showing up in this thread to express all of that isn't necessary.
You're welcome and even encouraged to engage in a thread on a topic you do like, but let's avoid being down on something others are enjoying.
One comment deleted. Ask MetaFilter comments should address the main question being asked. Please refer to the Ask MeFi section of the content policy.
One comment deleted. Please avoid posting jokey comments as answers. Please refer to the Ask MeFi section of the content policy.
One comment deleted, please refer to the AI Generated Content: section of the content policy.
One deleted, at poster's request.
One comment removed for not answering the question. If folks want to follow along by having answers appear in their Recent Activity, they can click the 'add to activity' link that's in the "posted by XXX" line on in every post.
One off topic comment removed. Please focus on helping the OP by answering the question, thanks.
xdvesper: "Just some quick responses -"
xdvesper, go ahead and remove yourself from this thread. The subject is about shifting views of the Israeli government as they continue to commit genocide in Gaza. Coming in here to essentially say "no Israel is right" is not ok.
No comments deleted at this point, but there's no need for you to continue in this thread, so please move on.
One comment deleted. Let's avoid aggressive comments towards another member, Please keep the conversation focused on the subject rather than picking a fight with another user.
Lemkin, please avoid threadsitting and give others a chance to say something. There is no need reply to the various comments stating what's wrong with the information in the article.
One comment has been removed.
Minor fix to post phrasing on poster's request.
One comment deleted. Name calling is not acceptable and goes against our content policy.
HTML Fixed, the placeholder for the URL was a single dot. Added the full sentence now.

MetaFilter post We won't be hearing from him anymore deleted. LLM Content
NotLost, You've done a lot of good so far, so just keep doing what you're doing. Go for it!
Please stop derailing the thread. If your comment is not about the thread's subject, or you are simply replying to other users to argue/snark, stop. Take a break from the thread.
Just a note that thread sitting is discouraged, so if you find yourself commenting more frequently than other users in the thread, please take a break and let others chime in as well.

MetaFilter post On Weird America deleted. self link
xusifem: "Spinifex has an Indigenous land acknowledgement on their website and publishes books by Indigenous and lesbian authors on feminism, decoloniality, and anthropogenic climate change. I find that to be odd behavior for a right wing press."
As others noted, Spinifex's book of the week is Terf Island: How the UK Resisted Trans Ideology, which is a textbook definition of anti-trans, so stop trying to convince people that the Collective Shout and Spinifex has no problematic elements. This is not a request, just stop and if you feel you can't, then move on to another thread.
Proofs and Refutations: "Fuck off TERF"
MetaFilter is unapologetically pro -trans, but also has firm rules about saying 'fuck you' or similar to other members, so let's avoid doing this in the future.
If anyone wants to discuss any of this further, email or MetaTalk are your options, avoid continuing the derailing this thread.
No comments have been removed.
NotLost: "99_ and staff (Brandon? loup?), would you please work together to get appropriate info..."
Yes, will put 99_, loup, and myself in some sort of email/message chains so we can figure out appropriate communications and assistance.

Added a couple of periods to the post at OP's request.
One comment removed for not answering the question. Please just stick to helping out the OP and avoid injecting other elements to their question, thanks!
Typo correction of infrastructure
aintnolobos: "why be devastated when you can sell a book"
Derailing comment removed, working through the thread to remove similar comments. Discussion about the upcoming bookk from Kamala Harris can be found in this other thread.
A couple of comments deleted. Please avoid derailing the conversation by being combative with other users and let's focus the conversation around the subject at hand.
One comment deleted, please refer to the AI Generated Content: section of the content policy.
Deleted a duplicate comment.
Another comment removed, see previous mod note.
"Why are you deleting my comments but not his if you want to clean up the thread..."
Original comment removed, but here's a public response:
You can take your concerns to email or MeTa, but you need to stop derailing this thread.
No one is thinking less of you, certainly not me, but it's clear that another member would prefer not to interact with you, so please, just avoid interacting with them.
You're welcome to continue discussing the subject of this thread, but if you keep insisting on derailing it, we're going to have to ask you to leave the thread.
One derailing comment removed. ch1x0r, please just avoid replying to comments from kittens for breakfast, as the last interaction between y'all did not go well.
Both of y'all just move on and avoid derailing this thread, please.
Melismata: "Wow the trolls are out in full force today."
No comments have been removed, but calling other members names (trolls) does nothing to discussion on topic. Please engage with what people are actually saying, instead of focusing on your perceptions of them.
One deleted, posterβs request for removal of personal information in comment.
unearthed: "The United States is in dire existential crisis because one party wasn't perfect for too many people. Too many Americans require a lovely story and a happy ending - or they won't participate."
Just a reminder that the article isn't about the United States or its political parties specifically, so please avoid derailing into the topics.
No comments removed.
No deletions needed but, let's avoid a derail about HOAs.
A couple of comments deleted. While it's OK to criticizethe sources of this post, this is not the right place to criticize other members and complain about them.
One answer deleted at the poster's request.

FYI, this Ask post is picking some reasonable flags wondering if this might be a stunt post. We do not have any evidence that this is the case so please carry on. We'll be monitoring the post as it progresses.

Hi all,
Clearly there's still a several issues going on and staff should work ensure next month's update goes better, more on that below.
This includes working with 99_ to finish out ironing out issues with connections to various financial data (like PayPal), working with frimble on what can be done to prevent future site downtime's similar to what occurred on 7/26/25, getting the BiPOC minutes for a recent meeting finished, and keeping members informed about any policy changes, updates or discussions.
Note that MetaFilter does have a free account with UptimeRobot to monitor if the site is up and running (it checks every five minutes). This was done to help non-development staff know if and when the site goes down so we can communicate information to the community and as a backup to development monitoring.
UptimeRobot did report when the site was down yesterday, enabling staff to ping frimble and post to our Bluesky account that the site was down, along with updates. Will also check with frimble about making sure the status page accurately reflects whether the site is up or down.
Finally, I think (without consulting with other staff members yet) that it would be good for staff to establish goals with each site update for the next month's site update. Doesn't have to be anything huge, especially as we're still in a transition phase with management, but definite goals to keep the site and community running as smoothly as possible, something like what is mentioned in the second paragraph of this comment.

Indeed, I think part of the point is that trump definitely isn't hung.
Just using this comment to point out that mocking male genital size is similar to mocking and judging physical aspects of women, so please choose your words with care. There's plenty of things to judge and mock President Trump without resorting to insults about dick size so let's try to avoid doing that going forward.

Thank you for pushing back against this kind of Hateful and Insensitive comments. Calling homeless people βshitbirdsβ is unacceptable. Please refer to the very top of the Content Policy.
Also, letβs avoid. Turning this, and any US politics post into a relitigation of the past elections; let's focus on the issue at hand instead.
You probably want to update whatever source doc you're mindlessly copying these out of is updated.

Likewise, if the OP wants to rebut something, keep it respectful, and remember that creating a post doesn't make you the decider on what comments can or should go in a post.

Hi, please note that the OP did not specify the gender of the child, and simply said "they" or "them".
Going forward let's avoid assuming the gender and just use the indicators the OP wrote in the post, thanks!

Here's a possible solution that member Richard Daly emailed to the mods:
The answer that worked for me was to use the DEL command in Windows Command Prompt, but to give it a slightly different parameter than the original poster, fantasticness, tried. Specifically, in Windows Command Prompt, from the path C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\ I ran the command
del "\\?\C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\[the entire ~255 character filename here].pdf"
The quotation marks are part of the command, the square brackets and the description inside them are not.

AlSweigart: "At this point in their 9-month-old account, Lemkin has a pattern of antagonizing behavior and doubling down. When (not if) he gets his account banned, we'll all have wished it had been done months ago."
It's ok to disagree with another member, but this sort of personal attack doesn't help discussion or the community. Please just focus on the comments and not on the person.

As noted in the FAQ, do not publicly mention details from someone else's profile page unless you have explicit permission from the individual. Your comment has been removed.
Folks, don't go through another member's profile, and try to use that information in any way. Doing so can result in ban.
Removed one comment that was supposed to go in the Fox in the Library thread and its replies, please carry on.
Diskeater: "Can this be updated with a list of current board members? Or can that list live somewhere on the site?"
I've updated that FAQ entry to link to the Site Information FAQ that NotLost mentioned, which is also linked in the footer on every page.

OP, this is coming across as chatfilter, as there's no problem to solve. If you could chime in about why you're seeking this information that would help others explain what you're seeking to do or learn with this information.
DeepSeaHaggis, you've asked your question, members will respond if they choose to. There's no need to keep pushing.
Now, the article appears to be largely or entirely AI-generated, which technically falls within our content policy and the FAQ's etiquette. Since the thread is going mostly well and the topic itself concerns AI, we're allowing this thread to continue.
If you would want to discuss this particular stance about AI generated content feel free to open a MetaTalk post about it, we are open to refine our policies and, frankly will need to keep updating them as this technology develops and becomes more pervasive.

One comment removed for linking to a USA case in a thread about UK. Please avoid including USA cases and/or info in threads about other countries, unless super relevant.
There are excellent questions about who should be able to add tags to a post in regards to the USpolitics tag. Currently it's possible for the original poster, a mod, or someone with a connection to the poster to add any tag to a post, just fyi.
Obviously the current system is imperfect and may need to be rebuilt. Particularly if people want to block a tag, does that mean any post with that tag is blocked? Or is there another way of blocking posts that are tagged by other people that will deliver a high level of success?
Currently there's request, via a flag, for the USpolitics tag to be added to this post, https://www.metafilter.com/209603/If-this-isnt-infringement-Congress-needs-to-do-something, which I think is a reasonable request. But I've gone ahead and asked the original poster if they're cool with that. What do y'all think?
If they aren't and say no, is that a good system for the USpolitics tag with our current system. Should one person get to decide for everyone else about what is blocked under USpolitics?

jacquilynne: "Brandon reached out for more details on the specific posts I thought were a problem, so I assume they are at least considering a change in calibration, but I don't know if or when more details will be forthcoming."
Loup and I talked about the situation earlier today (I've been off a few days, thanks for your patience). The simple solution is for mods not to add the USPolitics tag unless it is specifically requested. But there will still be disagreements about what is political.
Hence the recommendation to occasionally look under a tag you've blocked, as tags are entirely user driven, so there's going to be some disagreement at times about how to tag something.
Folks can ask us to tag a post with a particular tag via email or flagging with a note.
Please note that the sidebar of USPolitics is not tag driven. A mod has to go into the post and click a checkmark button that then adds it to the sidebar. That might be a better way of handling things, aka mods putting what they or other users suggest as USPolitics without tagging the post itself. But people might get upset about their post being added to that, so it's still going to be grey area where people have different opinions.
We'll see how things go in terms of mods not tagging posts as USPolitics unless requested and see if we need to adjust anything on our end.

seanmpuckett: "to be crystal clear, i am talking about violence, as applied to the apex capitalist class."
This is veering into going against MeFi's Content Policy regarding advocating for violence, which states "It can be okay to talk in strongly critical terms about people's words but don't cross the line into any threats of violence or wishing violence on other people."
If folks could move on from those comments and back to the article itself, that would be great.
